It still pains me to see sales pages with Adsense on them, or block ads.. information links, links to other pages..
It just isn’t supposed to be like that and if you look at any of your pages right now that require a definitive action, then you must make sure that the reader has only one option:
If you have a page up on the internet.. be it an article, squidoo lense, squeeze page etc..
Focus everything on that page to getting your most desired action.
If you want an opt-in, then give the reader no other options on that page than the opt-in…
If it’s a sales page, then forget the adsense, ads, or any other distraction and focus on leading them to the sale.
If it’s an article then focus on the click through with your call to action leading into it.
There is no worse practice than giving an inquiring visitor the option to leave without taking action on your thing, providing adsense ads that could be from your competitors is damaging to your business, I’m not saying that you are doing this right now.. but if you are then you need to stop.
Two of my latest questions to my inbox were specifically about conversions from articles, and I followed both of them through to the “landing page” and both times I saw they had WordPress installed containing adsense and one even had a block of “sponsors”.. LOL..
I’m not ridiculing here..I’m being honest. I always think to myself when doing a landing page, always think the worst of the visitor.. if you give them the option to leave via a link.. then there is a good chance that curiosity is going to get the better of them and they will leave, never to return.
Build your marketing funnel to be dynamic and one way… directing to the end action required.. your most desired action for each page.
