In Part 2 we covered a few varied points, and started digging a little more at the process, and before I go any further I want to be very clear on something..
The list of potential niche’s above I made, are VERY quickly put together, it was a very small list and I have done this maybe a thousand times, it is not uncommon to make alist of 20+ potential niche’s when you first start out and then find that none of them are worht pursuing so you have to go back to the drawing board, so don’t worry if this happens, be prepared to fail fast and move on for more….
I covered a little about “weight loss” being too broad a keyword to get a search engine ranking under, right?.. well what did I mean?… what I hinted at was the amount of high authority sites out on the net that are listed when you type in “weight loss” into maybe Google etc, and .. take for example… if I put the words weight loss into Google, I get:
Notice I put it into Google in quotation marks, which only brings up direct competition of a more refined nature, and even then we have almost 80 million competing pages… 80 million. This is absolutely unbreakable, but what we need to do is focus more on refined processes, within the weight loss niche, you have those people searching for help on very specific help on certain areas of their body, Like:
How do I get rid of my love handles?, or how do I get rid of my double chin?.. which gives us:
Can you see that????… only 221 competing pages, now that is more workable like crazy, and I know from keyword research that this is the type of phrase that a) get plenty of searches a day, and b) is much further along the purchasing cycle than weight loss, so the people making this type of search are looking for a buy now, credit card ready in hand solution… BINGO!!
It is much more feasible, and almost easy for use to construct pages, be it squidoo lenses, or articles, hubs, blogs etc targeted towards these keywords.. much more. Look how far we have come, in just 3 blog posts we have touched upon a niche from around ten minutes work and veryy little research, imagine what YOU could do with the right guidance, support and help along the way, all of the previous can be repeated in absolutely ANY market to find a unique way of offering your solution in what would seem at first glance to be an overcrowded market…
There is no competition, just something directing you to offer your solution to a finer more refined area of a market, a more niche section of an industry.
