Blogger Blogs Substitute Article Directories?….

By Jamie Holt | July 31, 2008 .

I would like to clearly state before I go any further, that the following post comes from my thoughts, opinions and some preliminary testing, nothing intensive.. no real recorded data and analysis.. just my thoughts and testing.

I know it may see VERY strange to think like it, but just recently I have found, that when I create a brand new blogger FREE blog.. I can usually optimise it enough to outrank some article directory pieces. What I’m not saying is avoid the directories like the plague..that isn’t my point, but..my point is profound enough for me to really take attention and realise that blogger blogs have a big enough position in my business for them not to be over-looked..

The flexibility that comes with them is immense, and when I talk about optimising them, I don’t mean some super SEO strategy.. I’m just talking about the fundamentals.. some good backlinks, proper use of H! tags in each post, good keyword density and relevant and useful content.

This can be done in exactly the same way as you would for the article directory, but with the added benefit of visual appeal that you can add to your content, with images and banners etc. But also, prominent placement of links and anchor text wherever you wan them.

For the article directories, you are restricted to using their article structure, which is good for most things, but when you feel that you want to be a little more exciting, why not just give a free blogger.com blog a try?..I have seen it in action with my own two eyes. Using them as article platforms can be powerful.

What exactly is the “proper use of H1 tags”? And by the way… still hoping you’ll do that post on how to check Meta tags to find those sites that don’t have the no follow. Thanks.

    Hi Nate…

Proper use of H1 Tags, is using them in your HTML.. for instance, in a blogger blog, you can choose the HTML editor.. and for your heading, you would include it inside tags like

< *h1>heading here< */h1> < —remove the * though, I had to insert them so you could see the code.. :-)

Like that above, which then displays the text inside in bold and a larger size, Google uses the H1 tag to determine what the page is talking about, so having relevant headings in the tags, and using them right away at the start of a post/article is what I referred to when I said proper use…

Stay tuned for the source code post dude..asap for sure…

    Peace
