Blog Monetization Series: Burn/Syndicate Your Feed

By Jamie Holt | August 17, 2008 .

Although this IS the blog series and how to make money from your blog.. this post isn’t exactly a method to generate direct income but more of a way to ensure that you keep the option of previous visitors returning to make you an income from them..

Repeat visitors are what make a blog… it’s all well and good driving traffic to a blog, but MOST readers won’t comment and get involved in your community first time around.. they need a reason to come back again and become captivated by your blogging mastery  ;-)

As you can see from my opt-in form above, I build a list of internet marketers who are looking for help and guidance.. so along with my free reports etc, if I have a blog post that I really want them to see, I can shoot them mail and if they see fit and have the time they can drop by my blog and give it a good ol’ read. the problem with this is although I blog here day in and day out… some people are still very wary of giving over their e-mail address to someone they don’t know..

So how to overcome this issue and retain visitors to your blog if they like your initial work?…

Feedburner

In a word…. amazing.

Feedburner allows you to “BURN” your feed for syndication.. which lets people suscribe to your blog posts in a reader/browser..which makes it easier than a reader having to opt-in or losing their security.. they can subscribe via your feed otherwise known as RSS (really simple syndication) and have no issues with giving out their e-mail. What this does is increases your blog’s “stickiness” which is your blog’s ability to keep people reading, maybe not so much on the first read/visit, they may be busy. With an RSS button like mine to the right her, your readers can have your blog posts updated in their reader/browser.

Burn your FEEEEEEEEEED folks…. bring those readers back with your masterful wordship ;-)
