Part 2 in the blog monetization series here, comes to you with a twist that may not be the norm, but it is certainly known to the more “popular” members of the blogosphere.. and that method of monetization is:
Google’s in-site advertising that allows you to display ad blocks on your site, from which you receive a percentage of the Cost Per Click from the advertiser when a clickthrough occurs from your site.
A scenario to explain if I may…
Company A decides to advertise through Google Adwords and agrees to pay X amount for every visitor that Google delivers to their site as a result of “search terms” related, being typed into the search engine and the searcher clicking through the sponsored results ads down the right hand side of the search page. But as a side element to this, webmasters can register to display Adsense on their own site, and Company A’s ads will then be displayed in the adsense blocks if they agree to this type of display for their ads…
When a clickthrough is made, Company A pays Google and Google gives a cut of each click payment to the webmaster who displays the ads..
I have always been a discreet advocate of adsense, it’s great for sites with good traffic, and plenty of readers…like for blogs etc.. I too would have to put Adsense as a top earner on some site’s of mine, mainly content sites and not this one, but many others that I add regularly updated content to, so the readership is always large and fresh.
Give it a whirl, you may well just be surprised at what you may find in your results.
