Ask Jamie: Getting Listed In The Search

Our main aim as online marketers, is to get our message in front of people who are looking for it, right?… and at times it can feel that this is easier said than done.. but today I want to draw right back to the start of the process as a result of a question from one of my newsletter subscribers…

Jamie… I just made two squidoo lenses last week, but when I search for them on the internet, they are not even listed at all???… they’re not indexed and the only traffic I have had is directly from squidoo itself… how can I sort this out?…

As much as I would like to say to you all that doing XYZ will guarantee you an indexing and get yo to the top of the search engine’s… I can’t. And we both know that there is no guarantee when it come to the big G. But what I can do is tell you what works for me and also show you the steps that you can take to stand you in better positioning to get your work indexed in as short a time as possible..

I’m gonna give you links to two tools and then explain why they can help you…

The first one that you need to make your best friend in terms of indexing… is…

Socialmarker.com

If you aren’t yet using SocialMarker for your bookmarks then you need to be, but more importantly.. if you aren’t yet bookmarking.. you need to do it right now!!

You see the search engine’s see the social bookmarking site’s as the authority online, social bookmarking site’s allow the SE’s like Google to see exactly what people like.. which allows them to provide searchers online with exactly what they want.. which is their main aim.

So using the social site’s to display your work, gives it a step up in the uphill race for indexing…

Link from social site to your work… Google sees it on the social site ==== INDEXING!!…Bingo!!

Again, this is no guarantee.. but I know the true power of the social site’s right now.. and they work.. they are sooo popular it’s almost easy.

And the next tool I want to show you, just in case you haven’t yet found it is:

Pingoat.com

The above mentioned tool is colossal in search indexing.. literally a 500lb Gorilla .

You would use it for what is known as “pinging”.. which lets a whole bunch of mainstream resources know that you have work available for indexing, again it is letting the high authoirty site’s become awar of your work.. Sites that get crawled daily by the search engines.. and as they do.. they see your link, to your work…and come see it.

Indexed.. BINGO…

None of the above is guaranteed.. but what it does is puts you right out there in social land, which is exactly where Google sees the thick of the action going on for it’s surfers.. and they are the people that make it the billion pound monster that it is today.
