Ask Jamie: PDF Creation.. Adobe Or Not?

By Jamie Holt | August 12, 2008 .

Heya folks..

Ok here’s the dealio… I am always talkin about PDF’s and how you should be making them to multiply your business.. it goes without saying that if you can drop hot reports on your subscribers, then they are gonna love ya even more for it..

I get many questions about PDF software and if it is really required to purchase something like Adobe Acrobat, which is the number one e-book tool for me, but it’s a little pricey for those just starting out.

Sophie’s question was:

Jamie. I really wanna start hitting my lists with some PDF’s(ebooks). I have a ton of articles on my PC that I do not want to publish, I would like ot or was thinking about compiling them into short reports like the ones you give us and distribute them. But Acrobat is so expensive, are there alternatives that I can look at. Maybe even free versions or trials?..

And I replied:

Yo Sophie!

There are a real heap of ways that you can get PDF’s done with software other than adobe acrobat, and whilst I really do advocate the use of adobe products, I still appreciate that it isn’t always possible to make such an investment. So if I was you I would scout around for a few possibilitie’s.. like:

Pdf995

eWriterPro

OpenOffice - Limit on the amount you can do…

The eWriterPro option is a paid one 99% of the time, although you can find some prepared to offer it for free if they have purchased the licence to do so. And it is definitely worth paying the $19.99 anyhow because it is the closest thing to Adobe that you can get that will still do the same job just without all the added bells and whistles..

Hope that helps you a little Sophie… peace
