If you are not building a list of customers and potential customers then I can honestly say that I am strongly of the belief that you are leaving money on the table that you could be grabbing with both hands, and that is not the only reason you should be list building, email marketing is much more than just having a list of subscribers who you can promote to.
List building is an essential tool in your business, and here are 3 reasons why:
Making money
The most obvious and critical one for me, you are in business to make money and it is widely told that a high percentage of of customers can take up to seven exposures before they make a purchase, so what better way to increase your profits than having those seven exposures coming from you in a newsletter or informational mailing to your list.
Market research
Knowing your market is something that you should take very seriously, and sometimes market research can be difficult when you are chasing down prospects and consumers. But if you have a list of people who have expressed a solid interest in your market, you have the potential to survey them on a regular basis to establish what their wants, needs and desires are and how you can help them in their search for answers or solutions to problems that they have.
Building credibility
Driving traffic to a sales page can and does work frequently for plenty of marketers, but there are times that a little credibility and trust needs to be established between you and the consumer. Building a list allows you to share your knowledge and information which helps to build trust with your potential customers and cement your credibility with those that already made a purchase.
Having a connection with your customers allow you to help them with what they want and need which in turn help you to make them happy and that way they will remain customers with you for a long time in the future, suddenly you go from a one off sale to a long and profitable relationship with your customers, they get what they need and you profit from helping them.
